Manager, boardroom and transfer changes are coming – Pundit opinion gives Celtic fans hope

I find it difficult to remember a positive story coming out of Paradise in the last four months. From COVID isolation, to transfer signing farces to calamitous press conferences.  Good news stories emanating out of Celtic Park is as rare as a Shane Duffy interception. But tonight, there does seem to light at the end of this very cavernous tunnel.

It’s the news almost every Celtic fan has been looking forward to. A new managerial appointment, met with boardroom preening and squad trimming, the whole set up at Paradise needs an overhaul and Noel Whelan reckons the changes will be ringing sooner rather than later.

Speaking to Football Insider, the former Aberdeen hitman said, “They needed changes, it’s gotten stale at the club and I think there’s more changes to come as well.

“We keep looking at the team, now we’re looking at the club, there’s been a lot of players there that have been knocking on the door wanting to leave. I think we’ll see a bit of a transfer exodus in the summertime.

“That might not just be players but I think they’ll be thinking managerial as well because I think there will be some big, big changes at Celtic and I think it is needed. I think sometimes you can be at a club too long. Sometimes you need to freshen things up.

“I think the way you see the season has gone this year for Celtic, there’s definitely some changes that are needed – in the board, strong decision-makers, a different mindset, a different way of thinking and a different way to take this club forward.

“Where they are right now, even though it’s second, which you would expect Rangers or Celtic to be one or the other, it’s the distance they’re away from Rangers right now which is worrying.”

As the season comes to a strangling end slowly but surely for the Hoops fans, many will be hoping that Whelan’s word’s ring true and that along with players leaving the club there will be massive investment to replace those potentially leaving.
