Since the news broke of Celtic legend, Scott Brown, quit the Hoops to take up a coaching role at Aberdeen, I have been scratching my head at why? Why leave at a time where he could be pivotal in helping the new management team settle in and keep harmony in the dressing room?

Why leave when a coaching role is pretty much guaranteed within the Parkhead set up? Maybe it was something as simple as a fresh start?

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show  Tony from A Celtic State of Mind had a different slant on the story and to be honest, it was something I was thinking about yesterday, “Maybe he has decided that it’s the right thing to move on. As a new challenge and a new chapter in his career, but I would be interested to know his thoughts on it and he probably will tell us further down the line, maybe he has spoken with the new management team and they don’t fancy him.

Roy Keane for next Celtic gaffer?

“So I don’t think he would have liked to cut a kind of isolated figure.  Bearing in mind he is going to Aberdeen to be a player coach. He’s still continuing the best of both roles or combining the best of both roles.

“And he’ll want to cut his teeth in management to see if he has a future in coaching. And I guess that’s the carrot that Aberdeen have dangled as well because it certainly not about the money.”

You would think with the stature and respect Brown has within the Parkhead corridors, he would have had some insight as to who the new Celtic management team will be so maybe there is some mileage in this opinion. But whatever happens from now on in. Won’t it be strange to see our Captain decked in red instead of the Hoops on a Saturday at 3pm?
