The Daily Record has published a detailed report in which it claims that AC Milan have bumped Kristoffer Ajer up their shopping list after being priced out of a move for Fiorentina’s David Milenkovic.

The Rossoneri have recently adopted a new transfer strategy and Celtic’s Norwegian international fits it perfectly with over 200 senior games, 14 caps at just 22-years of age.

Ajer has been the subject of interest from Milan for most of 2020 with the Italian giants rumoured to have had a £13million bid for his services rejected, although this story was later denied by Celtic.

Leicester City are also regularly linked with the centre-half, although every in-form or talented player at Parkhead is seen to be a transfer target for former manager, Brendan Rodgers.

One thing is for certain, there is little chance of Neil Lennon letting, not only one of his key players go, but one in a position where he already has a shortage of options with just two senior centre-halves at his disposal.

Does Lennon need to sign another centre-half?

Yes

No

No

Reinforcements are currently being identified to support Odsonne Edouard, however, after the display against Kilmarnock, the centre of the defence must surely be a priority for the recruitment team and not just because they are in short supply.

Ajer won’t be at Celtic Park forever given his obvious potential but, regardless of who is interested, as long as he is under contract and until Lennon secures suitable replacements, it doesn’t matter how high up a team’s shopping list he is – he simply won’t be for sale.
