Celtic have announced that a pre-season friendly will be played at Paradise between us and Belgian side Standard Liege.
The game is set to take place on July 14 which, more than anything else, goes to show you how close we are already to the new season starting.
Certainly, we’ll be in full swing for Champions League qualification preparation by that point and so, in many ways, I can see this game being an ideal yardstick to show where we are.
The Belgian side is by no means the best in Europe but they’ll be a decent test and have good quality, as well as likely better than what we face in the early rounds.
Here are the details for the game:
#CelticFC will take on Belgian side, Standard Liege in a pre-season friendly in Paradise on Saturday, July 14 with a 3pm kick-off.

I couldn’t tell you much about Standard to be honest but I’m sure it’ll be a competitive fixture and one I think that we’ll benefit from.
Certainly, they’ll give us something to think about and, by this point, we’ll need to be sharp so I think the club have done a good job in arranging it with them.
