Since last week’s performance over Real Madrid, the team has taken all the plaudits coming their way.
Every player to a man stood up and was counted against the European champions.
They did the club proud.
But here is a question, if there was one player in the Celtic team you could pluck out and put into the Real Madrid team, who would it be?
This Celtic fan called Clyde 1 Superscoreboard and gave this opinion that brought about an incredible reaction from Gordon Duncan:
Let’s be honest, McGregor is a phenomenal player but would he really command a place within that Madrid midfield?
I suppose not and I suppose that wasn’t the general point the caller was making.
If you plucked Modric out and placed McGregor in there would he look out of place?
My heart says no, my head unfortunately says yes.
Whilst I love McGregor and believe that he is a phenomenal player for us, if he was really that good, and I mean at the elite level, he wouldn’t by plying his trade at Paradise.
He would have been snapped up a long time ago.
I know this sounds like I am running him down and it certainly isn’t meant to come across that way.
I guess I’m just being realistic and not looking at him with green-tinted spectacles.
The reason he hasn’t been snapped up is he’s an average midfielder who shouldn’t even be guaranteed his place in the team,we now have several other options in midfield to try.
Ooft! Average? Really?
