We’re all trying to forget Thursday night as much as possible at the moment and that makes sense, but isn’t it hinting at a bit of an issue at the club right now?

From early on in the game against Valencia we were looking off of the pace and eventually, Valencia were too good, or was it that we were just awful?

From the reaction from the players, though, it’s as if it didn’t really matter.

Of course, they care and want to progress but from manager down to players the general tone has been – we’ll just move on – and nothing else.

I’m not expecting a massive inquest but there seems a feeling of, well, this is just what happens when we get to Europe – like we’re almost accepting it.

I do get that it’s going to be tough for us in Europe but we should be able to do more than we are, with domestic things so nicely in our favour right now.

It suggests to me that, simply, those at the club don’t really know how to change what happened to stop it occurring again and that’s a worry and so we’re just sweeping it aside for another season.

Some big European experience is needed in our side.
