Leicester City have parted ways with Head of Recruitment Eduardo Macia, paving the way for Lee Congerton to join the English Premier League side from Celtic, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Rodgers had previously distanced himself and his new club from Congerton, citing Macia’s position at the Foxes already, so the Spaniard’s exit just a week later has come as something of a surprise.

Speculation surrounding the Hoops’ Head of Recruitment will now hit overdrive, with many expecting him to leave Lennoxtown and Celtic Park soon anyway.

Congerton has had some transfer hits, such as Odsonne Edouard, but fans in the main have been frustrated with his role at the club, expecting much more from a dedicated recruitment chief.

Our transfers since he has arrived have been less than inspiring with real flops like Jack Hendry and Marvin Compper still on the books.

With The Telegraph claiming that Celtic will receive compensation if Leicester make a move for Congerton, we could be set for yet more remuneration from Rodgers’ controversial exit, as well as getting rid of a divisive figure.
