As reported by outlets such as The BBC, Celtic have had a second bid rejected for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn this summer, again falling below the Edinburgh’s side valuation of the Scottish international.

Neil Lennon confirmed the second bid ahead of Hibs’ UEFA Europa League qualifier against NSI Runavik this evening.

The Daily Record say that Hibs value him at around £3m, with the Hoops’ latest offer closer to £2m.

Clearly he is a player wanted by Brendan Rodgers, but the club seem intent on eking out as much value from the deal as possible, as we’d expect. McGinn has less than a year year left on his contract, meaning Celtic are holding all the cards when it comes to any deal.

Some supporters though feel the club should now end the speculation and pay the price that the Easter Road outfit are looking for, believing that he could be a long-term successor to captain Scott Brown.

These fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the latest rejected bid…

Do you think Celtic should sign John McGinn? Let us know in the comments below…

  • Nobody else is in for him so leave him until January when he can sign a pre-contract and the club will save some money to spend on a centre-half, deny putrid Petrie and his Hun season ticket holder Dempster. We have good enough players at the club at present.

  • C’mon Celtic
The lad is easily worth £3 million Rodgers wants him as do the majority of the fans and if he plays for Hibs tonight in Europe then that stops him laying for us in Europe this season and sure as hell he will be off down South inside a week and we will have lost a good player.

Rodgers wants him Lawell is not bigger than Celtic buy him now or Like Paddy Roberts we will have lost another player who was a proven product wanting to be in Paradise.

    John Lyons

  • Rather have a biscuit tin than a liquidiser, its easy to spend the clubs money, its value for money that we want, BTW it was said that Celtic bid £10 mill. for Roberts but Citee wouldn’t sanction it. In 20 odd weeks if he wants to come to Celtic he can sign a pre-contract. Also he will still be available to play in the C.L. if we get there, so am telt. Its a centre-back and a right back we need not another mid fielder, let Putrid Petrie and his Hun CEO rot. “Remember the Fleg” when the Orange Chairman of Hibs backed the Orangemen at the SFA, well putrid’s the same, no friend of Celtic.

  • Celtic need to walk away from this. Never trust Hibs , they are trying to screw us. The club that sold out to the Huns

  • Lhads i honestly do not think he is good enough nor will he be, IMO. Too inconsistent in “other” games for my liking and we should not be held to ransom by Hibs over his price. HH
