This one seems to have come from left field.

With all the focus seemingly on Jota and the possibility of Josip Juranovic heading out the club this summer, this report seems to have slipped under the radar from Portuguese media outlet Diário de Transferencias.

According to them, 13 cap Guinea-Bissau defensive midfielder Alfa Semedo is on his way to Paradise.

The twitter message translates as follows, Alfa Semedo on his way to Celtic, coming from Vitória SC.

“The details, according to the Transfer Diary: ▪️ Loan valid for one season 💸

“Mandatory purchase clause of 2.5 million euros + 1 million in variables.

“For the medium: ✍🏻 Contract valid for three seasons.”

Is Fabrizio Romano right? Will Celtic lose Juranovic this summer?

As the Hoops scour the market to replace Nir Bitton, it seems as though his replacement has been found and is ready to sign.

Semedo currently plays for Vitoria in Portugal.

Starting off his career with Fidjus di Bideras as a youth, he was snapped up by Benfica in 2014.

He spent two seasons in the youth set up but never really managed to break into the first team and spent a season on loan at Vilafranquense before moving to Moreirense in 2017.

Befica, incredibly, bought him back for €2.5m in 2018 but after three seasons he only made 5 appearances for the club.

He was eventually loaned out to Espanyol, Notts Forest and Reading before being sold to Vitoria for €1.6m in 2021.

Last season he made 31 appearances for the club and made his international debut in March 2021.
