Pundit makes worrying prediction about Rodgers and Celtic

|

BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton believes Brendan Rodgers could be preparing to leave Celtic this summer, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The thought of Rodgers leaving the Hoops before his contract is up seemed unthinkable this time last year, but it’s a worry that’s slowly crept into the mind of many Celtic supporters since an acrimonious summer transfer window.

Fans are now reading into Rodgers’ every public statement, trying to find meaning and intention in what he says with regards to his long-term future at the club.

Sutton also appears to be concerned he could leave.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, he said this weekend:

I’m worried about what he said, comments attributed to Brendan about reaching a certain level. I think there’s a lot of Celtic fans who are thinking that he’s concentrating on the Treble and then he will be off in the summer.

What I would like to happen, and I think Brendan owes it to the Celtic fans, to come out and tell everybody that he wants to stay next season.

Because, if he does go, Celtic are in a mess in the summer. Short-term loans going back, no centre-half pairing… it’s going to be a massive problem in the summer.

I think there’s a fair chance that Brendan will be off in the summer.

Speculation is always going to be rife in the wake of a bruising defeat like the one suffered against Valencia last Thursday night and I personally don’t think we have to worry too much he is preparing for a goodbye.

Rodgers has stated time and again over the last few months that he is perfectly happy at the club and he assured supporters that he was pleased with how the January transfer window went.

On the cusp of nine and ten-in-a-row history, would he really want to give immortal status up to move elsewhere? It seems far-fetched to me.
