“Rangers came back from the dead!” – outstanding from Hartson and Rodgers copped it as well!

|

Not really sure what was going on with John Hartson on last nights The Go Radio Football Show, but he was absolutely on fire and he was blasting at everyone with both barrels. Talk on the show drifted to this “guard of honour” garbage that has been doing the rounds in the media ahead of Sunday’s Glasgow Derby.

Hartson, speaking to host, Rob McLean, was having none of it as he ranted, “Talk about this nonsense of a guard of honour. What a load of nonsense. Why do that? Let’s have some perspective.”

When host, Rob McLean, invited Hartson to listen to what Brendan Rodgers had to say about it. After the Rodgers clip played, the big Welshman had the bit between his teeth and let rip, “Well he knows about integrity and loyalty doesn’t he? What did he say there? Humility? Did he not walk out on Celtic? Right. That’s all I’m saying and I think a lot of Celtic fans would be saying the same.”

Is "Rangers" a new club?

“Let’s use some perspective. In the last 10 years Celtic have done a quadruple treble. No word of guard of honour. It’s never been mentioned. Why do it now?

“I know Rangers have come back from the dead, they’ve come back from absolutely nowhere. You know dumped down in the Scottish third division they’ve come up and took them four years or whatever it was to get back, and it’s a brilliant achievement what they’ve done this year they’ve been the best team in Scotland”

It really was outstanding from Hartson and he left Rob McLean absolutely speechless. And Hartson is correct. This guard of honour that certain fans are demanding can take a run and jump. When it was first suggested last season that Rangers should have gave Celtic one, their fans went apoplectic on social media.

All this talk is doing is stoking the flames between both sets of fans and hopefully this conversation about Celtic giving them a guard of honour will end up were Rangers went in 2012.
