This is probably one of the most mysterious contract lapses at Celtic in a long time.
Mainly because there was extremely high hopes for young Karamoko Dembele.
As a young 13 year old, Dembele made the headlines as a ‘wonderkid’ as internet footage showed the promising talent taking on and holding his own against players up to six years his senior.
His flicks and tricks went viral and the Celtic fans thought they had a genuine talent on their hands.
But that talent failed to materialise into a first team player and how, at 19 years old, Dembele finds himself out if contract.
And it looks like his destination could be a sensational move to the Italian Serie A.
According to the Daily Record Lecce are said to be interested in taking him to the newly promoted club in a bid to bolster their hopes of keeping their place in Italy’s top flight.
And the contract on offer? A cool €1m per year.
But what the report also highlights, rather interestingly, is that it ‘remains unclear’ whether or not Dembele has been released by the club.
Since his contract expired on the 31st May, I’m not sure what is really unclear here.
He is, presumably, now a free agent.
And if he’s not, why would the club remain silent on the issue?
Surely it would make more sense to clear up any speculation on the wingers situation than allow tabloids to continue to speculate on whether he is a Celtic player or not?
Normally, I have a healthy amount of scepticism against the tabloids when it comes to Celtic transfer outgoings but what is to be gained from casting doubt on whether Dembele remains a Celtic player for now?
Confusing? Or trouble making?
Well definitely was a brilliant we player but a don’t think he going to make it into the team now when you see. The signing celtic are being in but he will return to be a great player and if he goes he definitely make the team so just watch this young boy he go all the way to the top HH💚
