Report rules out Celtic’s rumoured January move for exciting talent

|

Celtic will not be making a move for free agent midfielder Yaya Toure in the January transfer window, as reported by The Daily Record.

The former Manchester City man sparked speculation he could be set for a switch to Glasgow after comments that opened the door for discussions with manager Brendan Rodgers.

However, The Record say that Celtic are not interested in him this January and will pass up the option of making the exciting signing.

A player of immense quality and experience, he would have been a blockbuster signing as we enter the second half of the season, even if he is now 35 years of age.

We have already made a number of crowd pleasing signings this month but all of them have been in attack, with defensive and midfield signings now seen as the priority for most supporters.

Olivier Ntcham has struggled for form in recent months and there are question marks about Scott Brown’s role at the club too.

It seems though that Rodgers may be happy enough with his central midfield options as we prepare for a genuine title race with Rangers and Kilmarnock.
