Celtic are back in action tonight and we cannot be thinking about Sunday any more as we take on Motherwell in a very important league game.

Certainly, with Rangers going top after beating Hearts last time out in the league, we need to be as professional as ever and fortunately in recent weeks we have displayed that.

Despite having some serious injuries to the squad we’ve managed to churn out results and now the likes of Scott Brown and Leigh Griffiths are back to boost us.

With the form of the likes of Callum McGregor, though, some have perhaps wondered whether the skipper will get straight back into the side.

Brendan Rodgers, though, is in no doubt of the importance Broony still carries.

Via the Belfast Telegraph, he said:

“There is no doubt that Scott Brown is a very important player for us.

“People have been trying to write him off since I first came in here and he has proven to be an outstanding player for me and a great captain.

“He still has a big role to play for me. As for the team, in general, there will be changes within it, of course, but the team played very well and Scott used his experience coming into the game late on to ensure we closed the game out.”

I have to agree, too, and expect the skipper to play another pivotal part this season as we look to seal a famous treble treble in the coming months.
