The ban on the Celtic supporters has certainly caused a stir on social media.

With concerns over safety of the fans after the most recent use of pyrotechnics in the stadium has led the club to take affirmative action before any anticipated engagement with the authorities.

With many news outlets reporting that there is a ‘ban’ on the supporters in the standing section, there wasn’t much in the way of clarity from the club as there, has yet, been no official statement.

To get the lowdown, Vital Celtic contacted the Supporters Liaison Officer, John Paul Taylor, to clarify the clubs position on twitter.

We asked, “Any update on the ‘ban’ mate? Not seen anything official from the club?”

And Taylor replied, “Think those impacted have been contacted but essentially losing front half of rail seat section on Sun whilst some safety concerns are being worked on.”

Although he didn’t divulge what those safety concerns were, it seems that it is just a partial closure of the standing section and not full closure as seems to be reported in the Scottish media.

Celtic are set to face Raith Rovers this Sunday in the upcoming Scottish Cup tie at Celtic Park and just as the feel good factor was returning to the stands, this latest news will be disappointing to the Celtic supporters affected by the closure.
