Speaking on his talkSPORT show yesterday, Jim White has said that James McCarthy could well be a player we are looking to bring in before the end of the January window.

The window so far has been full of links and rumours and we have managed to sign some players – but only really on a full-time basis.

For sure, it’s been a pretty decent window so far but we do need to add where we can both in midfield and defensively.

And, interestingly, White has suggested that we are looking at Premier League man McCarthy:

“Celtic are set for a recruitment meeting today with two possible signings on the agenda, Omar Elabdellaoui and Everton’s James McCarthy.

“The meeting is to decide who is or isn’t coming to the club. Omar Elabdellaoui is one name but, get this, James McCarthy from Everton is a possible target, on loan from Everton.”

For sure, this would be a class signing for us if we could get him in, and even on loan we’d surely be making some statement if we got him in.

That said, then, we can only wait and see if we can get him but he’s from Glasgow and plays for Ireland – there is plenty going for this potential deal.
