Former Celtic midfielder Jiri Jarosik has admitted he would love a return to Celtic Park one day in a coaching capacity, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

The Czech Republic international, who played 47 times for the club under the management of Gordon Strachan, has spoken fondly of his years in Glasgow.

He also named Strachan as one of his coaching idols, comparing him to Jose Mourinho.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the 41-year-old said:

I feel very lucky that I got the chance to work under Mourinho and Strachan. It was a perfect education, but they have different styles and different ideas on the game.

Strachan was a top player before he became a manager. Mourinho didn’t have a playing background. But they were both fantastic in terms of tactics and they were both winners.

Still learning his trade as a coach, Jarosik is almost finished his A coaching license, after which he will move on to the Pro qualification.

He certainly has ambition beyond that and has stated his desire to return to the Hoops in a coaching capacity.

He explained:

When I am ready, I hope to have more experiences and, of course, managing Celtic one day would be perfect.

Let’s not get carried away. I’d love to have a top coaching career and Glasgow is a great football city. But I need to take things step by step.

I have a long way to go, but a return to Celtic in the future? Why not?

Jarosik was something of a cult hero during his playing days at Celtic. He may not have been the most crucial part of the Strachan era, but he added a bit of midfield quality when required and fitted into the team well, especially in Europe.

Will we see a Celtic Park return? It’s obviously unlikely, but we wish him all the best in his coaching career anyway.
