The one position we need to talk about is the goalkeeping one.

What happens if, and probably when, Joe Hart gets injured.

At 34 years old, he is no spring chicken and luckily for us, he has been injury free so far this season.

But what is telling is Ange Postecoglou’s reluctance to rotate Hart whenever the opportunity comes up.

It shows, to me, that the manager doesn’t trust his back up keeper, Scott Bain, and clearly Barkas is not going to get a look in, so will the manager look to strengthen that position in the summer.

He needs to. With Champions League football all but guaranteed, we simply cannot go into next season with one quality keeper.

And that’s where BT pundit Allan Hutton believes Ange will look to strengthen this summer.

Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said, “I always think it’s a difficult one. Obviously, everybody wants to play but the goalkeepers are a specialised position.

“You want to push somebody on but if you’re second choice, you know you’re not going to play an awful lot. So you have to have someone in there with a really good, strong mentality. It can be difficult.

“Everybody needs competition. Joe Hart’s no different. I still believe he can play for a good number of years, he’s got a lot of football left in him.

“He’ll want that pressure on his shoulders as well so he performs at a top level. The only problem is you need to get somebody out, Barkas or Bain or whoever.

“You can’t bring in another keeper and be sitting there with four goalkeepers. The squad isn’t balanced.

“That’ll probably happen first and foremost but of course, they’ll need somebody in to challenge.”

Barkas will leave the club. I believe the club will take a huge financial hit on the chin but it is important that he goes in order for us to free up funds for a replacement.

I’m sure this is something the Celtic boss will remedy come the opening of the transfer window.
