Celtic’s AGM is set to take place at 1130am this morning in what should be a more calmer affair than it was this time last year.

The friction between the board and the fans has been healed, for now, and Ange Postecoglou delivered silverware in his first season and Champions League football for the first time since 2017.

The manager has been backed heavily in the transfer window and we are now watching a brand of football that hasn’t been seen at Celtic Park for years.

So all should be rosy in the garden right?

Yes, but there are still issues to be ironed out as per the resolutions listed below [Football Scotland]:

1. To receive the Company’s annual accounts and the Auditors’ Report, the Strategic Report and the Directors’ Report for the year ended 30 June 2022.

2. To reappoint Dermot Desmond, who retires by rotation, as a director of the Company.

3. To reappoint Tom Allison, who retires by rotation, as a director of the Company.

4. To reappoint Brian Wilson, who retires by rotation, as a director of the Company.

5. To reappoint Christopher McKay, who retires by rotation, as a director of the Company.

6. To reappoint BDO LLP as auditors of the Company.

7. To authorise the directors to determine the remuneration of the auditors.

8. To grant the directors authority to allot shares.

Special Resolution

9. To grant the directors authority to disapply pre-emption rights.

One of the biggest concerns for the Celtic fans is who will replace Ian Bankier as Chairman of the club.

There has been murmurings that Peter Lawwell could be in the frame and that would be a move that could concern the Celtic fans.

Lawwell was a very successful CEO during his tenure at Celtic but fans long believed that he ‘fell asleep at the wheel’ in terms of heading Celtic’s bid to land ten in a row, a claim that he flatly denied at last year’s summit and defended the clubs investment in the first team prior to the season starting [Daily Record].

This year, the meeting is unlikely to be as firey as the previous one but the fans will be watching intently to see who will step up into Bankiers shoes.
