With all the news of Celtic being in the transfer market for new additions stealing all the headlines, the current squad that we have do have still has plenty of quality in it, even in the youth ranks.

And this is where Kieran Devlin of The Athletic was answering a question posed to him by a Celtic fan.

When asked if the Hoops were looking to strengthen the left back area, Devlin gave a fascinating insight at how the club view up and coming youth star Adam Montgomery, “Adam Montgomery is highly rated internally and the club are keen to provide him with a clear first-team pathway.

“One theory from a source close to the dressing room is that the plan is for Taylor to be the first-choice left-back for now, with 19-year-old Montgomery hopefully developing for the role in time.

“That said, Montgomery’s limited minutes when Taylor was injured — Ange Postecoglou favoured using right-back Josip Juranovic over on the left instead — might suggest this is a position about which the manager still has his reservations.”

There is no doubt the youngster has talent and in the fleeting appearances he has made so far this season for Celtic has certainly done his cause no harm.

And if the club do look at building the defence with him in it, there will certainly be no arguments from me as has shown his qualities so far under Ange Postecoglou.
