The Delay Affecting Celtic

Despite this season already being stretched due to both the Winter World Cup and then the forced match postponement due to the death of the Queen, we now have an international break for the next two weeks!

Although international football aside from the Euros and World Cup tournaments, is a headache most club teams, managers, and club fans could do without, I do understand the appeal of seeing players and teams that do not normally play against each other come together. There is also a positive Celtic point of view to see just how many of our players are picked to shine on the international stage at the 2 major international tournaments compared to other so-called large Scottish teams.

It still just seems pointless however, in a season that has so much playing activity to afford a week break for international fixtures without a meaning or a purpose, Celtic also seem to have a very unlikely track record over the years of players being injured on international duty this currently being illustrated with the injury to Carl Starfelt at the beginning of the season playing away with Sweden.

Although international football does have its appeal to many fans around the world, I am not such a fan and I much prefer the cut and thrust of domestic football competitions.

Celtic hold the record for Scottish Cup wins. Can you name the players whose goals won these TEN Scottish Cup Finals? Take the quiz and challenge your friends and family.
