This story broke just before the turn of the New Year.

As Celtic released a statement confirming that they had signed their Japanese trio of Maeda, Hatate and Ideguchi, another transfer rumour emerged as Foot Mercato revealed that the Hoops are looking to possibly bring Algerian midfielder Zinedine Ferhat to Paradise.

The media outlet claimed that Celtic would jump at the chance to sign the midfielder in January as his current contract runs out in the summer.

Valued at £4m [Transfermarkt] it does seem like a no brainer, finance wise, to bring him on board, but what would he bring to the table on the field?

Popular football site, Football Fancast, have published some impressive stats on the 28 year old and it seems that he could be a very good addition to the Celtic team.

The site said, “Over his 33 Ligue 1 appearances in Nimes’ 2020/21 campaign, the £4.05m-rated man scored six goals, registered a whopping 10 assists and created nine big chances for his teammates, as well as taking 1.9 shots and making 1.6 key passes per game.

“These returns saw the £13k-per-week winger who he himself claimed loves to “turn on the style” earn a rather astonishing seasonal SofaScore match rating of 7.07, ranking him by far and away as his side’s best performer in the top flight of French football.”

But as the Algerian has dropped into the French second tier, it does seem that a player of his calibre may look to seek a new challenge elsewhere and Scotland may be the perfect fit for him under Ange Postecoglou.

But who would he displace from the team now that the Hoops have secured Hatate and Ideguchi?

That would remain to be seen but it does look like this guy has got talent.
