The referee decision Celtic didn’t get the BBC don’t want to talk about

It’s amazing that whenever Celtic get a contentious decision that goes for them, it is analysed to death, calls for VAR are being mooted from the rooftops and there is an overall meltdown across all media in Scotland.

Just yesterday afternoon we had BBC pundits and the like calling for VAR because Celtic got a corner that they eventually scored from.

Conveniently forgetting that VAR doesn’t cover corners or throw ins or ball boys not returning the ball quick enough.

The ball boy comment was tongue in cheek, but you catch my drift.

In the post match analysis of Celtic’s 3-1 win over Livingston yesterday, BBC Sportsound and BBC Scotland’s highlights package spoke at great length about a corner that never was, a throw in that should have been and a Tom Rogic handball that should have been given.

The reason why? They all led to Celtic goals. Simple.

But what they have failed to discuss was a tackle on Tom Rogic by Livingston’s Omeonga that should have resulted in the players second yellow card and dismissal.

In fact, forget that the ref didn’t even give it, it wasn’t discussed in the Sportsound podcast and the footage never even made it to the highlights reel of the match last night.

If we are going to discuss decisions Celtic get then that’s fine. Go for it.

But at the very least the discussion should be balanced instead of this narrative that is being peddled that somehow Celtic are getting the benefit of all major refereeing decisions week in, week out.

It is disingenuous at best, anti Celtic at worst.
