If it’s not the fans completely lambasting the board, it’s pundits and ex players. And former Celtic midfielder Davie Provan was pulling no punches when it came to his assessment of the boards performance and decisions this season.

In a ferocious rant, Provan listed not only the failures of the Celtic hierarchy’s ability to run the clubs finances, but also for allowing key players contracts to run down to such an extent that they could lose first team players worth millions, for free.

Speaking on Go Radio, Provan let rip, “I think the Celtic board have managed to get away with murder this season. I think they’ve run the club terribly. And they’re not going to be held accountable for it. And you know even things like Ryan Christie being allowed to, I think it’s after June 30th he can sign a pre contract. They’re not going to get value for him.

Are the board doing a good job?

YES

YES

NO

NO

“Jack Hendry now looks as if he’s going to be in the Scotland side. Player of the Year in Belgium. And I think in his loan deal there’s an option to get for one and a half million. Who was making those decisions? Celtic are losing money hand over fist”

Now to to a certain degree, I would concede the ‘losing money hand over fist’ is a bit dramatic seeing as we are in the midst of a global pandemic and the club still have cash in the bank, but the overall point Provan makes is hard to disagree with.

Whatever happens over the summer you would just hope for one thing. The board do the correct thing by Postecoglou and make sure he gets the funds to rebuild the emaciated squad.
