It’s like a constant circus as Celtic fans prepare themselves for the announcement of who will become the next Celtic manager.  Every day people like me try to give indications from media sources as to where the pendulum may swing but football journalist, Mark Guidi, has given the strongest indication on who he thinks will not only become the Hoops No1, but also the potential new assistant AND the Technical Director.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Guidi seemed fairly certain that the information he has is correct and was very confident when discussing the developing story of the new Celtic set up, “Roy Keane from things that I’ve heard in the past 24 hours, really doing the rounds, potentially, with Damien Duff in beside him.  Martin O’Neill vouched for him. In one sentence Martin O’Neill ruled himself out of the running and then the next sentence vouched for Roy Keane.

“And listen, we know that Martin O’Neill’s got a good working professional relationship with Dermot Desmond, as has Roy Keane. Roy Keane has knocked back the job before and Celtic eventually give it to Ronnie Delia.

Roy Keane for next Celtic gaffer?

NO

“If you start looking down the list he’s become almost like a clear candidate for the job now. Enzo Maresca I am told, who is at  Manchester City is highly valued in the Manchester City group and have earmarked him for the Gerona job in Spain so that rules him out.

“Chris Wilder for me not a Celtic manager,  Eddie Howe, not for me. Frank Lampard probably going to want to stay down south for the Crystal Palace job. Benitez I don’t think Scotland would appeal to him. John Kennedy, not the right time for John Kennedy become the Celtic manager. So if you go through the first six or seven candidates, it’s looking more and more likely to be Roy Keane.

“And again Fergal Harkin’s name as Technical Director is not going away and perhaps now that into this ten day international break. Perhaps you might see some kind of big announcement from Celtic in terms of their structure and perhaps introducing their new managerial team.”

It really was a great piece of radio, and Guidi seemed extremely assertive in the what he was telling the audience.  The groundswell of opinion from various Celtic social media platforms is that this type of appointment will not go down well with the support and will not encourage the fans to part with the best part of £600 for season tickets.
