Think we have defence problems now? Wait till the January sales hit!

|

With reports of Elhamed looking to return home to his family in January and Frimpong being on the radar of Southampton, there is a winter of discontent hanging in the air for Celtic. If we thought our defence was an issue now, how much will losing these two hit the team hard?

Elhamed is a calm head in our defence. Versatile and cool on the ball as well as a strong defender, at a time where we are leaking goals, where we to lose the Israeli international it would leave a gaping hole in the squad as he was a great back up for Frimpong and can easily slot into central defence to cover Ajer and Julien.

Frimpong, although struggling to capture his form from his maiden season, gives us some good attacking options on the right. At a time where we are still missing James Forrest, his value to the team cannot be under estimated.

On form, Frimpong is an effective weapon to have on the flank. His blistering pace getting up and down the flank proved invaluable last season and if he could find that in his game again, could help Celtic out of the slump they find themselves in.  The teenager is a first pick on the team sheet and if he was to leave, would leave a gaping hole in our squad.

Hopefully, Celtic have it in mind to try and persuade Elhamed to stay until the end of the season but the pull for being with his family is proving too strong at this time of year it is hard to argue against that.  We can stave off interest from down south and show Frimpong he is best served to stay at Celtic Park by showing him how others have made a big move developing and showcasing their talents at the biggest club in the country.
