Celtic captain Scott Brown says that attacking midfielder Tom Rogic is back and looking good in training ahead of the Hoops crucial two-leg tie against Rosenborg.

Rogic was given time off after his World Cup campaign with Australia but could be set for a return to the first-team at some point over the next eight days against the Norwegian champions.

Celtic host the side tomorrow night in Glasgow, before the return leg in Norway next Wednesday night, with a third qualifying round tie against AEK Athens the reward for the victors.

Defensive problems have dominated the discussion ahead of the encounter after the suspension of Jozo Simunovic, but in attack things are looking good for the Hoops, despite question marks about Moussa Dembele’s ability to feature.

Not only is Tom Rogic back, but Leigh Griffiths is ready for action too after an injury problem.

As quoted by The Daily Record, Celtic captain Scott Brown said:

We have Leigh Griffiths to come back in and that means we have three strikers who are all good goalscorers but who are also willing to do the dirty work.

Tom Rogic has been playing catch-up after being at the World Cup. He has been a miss for us in pre-season but he’s back and looking good in training. It will be up to the manager when he makes his return.

Brendan Rodgers’ side haven’t skipped a beat when it comes to attacking football in the early stages of the season but the return of Rogic gives the squad a big boost and gives the manager different options in the final third.

Rogic gives the side a unique threat from midfield and after signing a new long-term contract earlier in the summer will be eager to get the new season started positively, even if it’s initially from the bench.

With a potential tie against AEK Athens on the horizon, no doubt Rogic will be vital to Celtic’s hopes of European progression over the coming weeks.
