Celtic are set to launch last-ditch talks to secure Dedryck Boyata to a new contract, with a number of clubs interested in his services this summer.

The Daily Record report that the Belgian defender is due back in Glasgow this weekend and is to be brought immediately to Celtic Park for discussions with manager Brendan Rodgers and chief executive Peter Lawwell.

The paper say that both decision makers at the Hoops believe they can convince the 27-year-old to commit his future to the club despite mounting speculation he could be set for an exit.

Clubs like Fulham and Lyon are said to be at the front of the queue to sign him, knowing that he has just a year left on his current deal.

The defender has emerged as arguably the club’s best over the last 12 months, despite high profile errors that have turned some supporters against him.

Most importantly he is trusted by Rodgers, who clearly wants him to stay beyond this summer and help the club maintain their domestic success while also improving in Europe.

The talks this weekend will likely give everyone a much clearer picture of how the next few weeks will pan out.

Will we be hearing about a new deal being signed this time next week? Or is this set to drag on to the end of the summer?
