International tournaments are a curious thing. I still remember after Euro 96 Man United spent their summer budget on Jordi Cruyff and Karel Paborsky on the back of impressive performances for their country. Needless to say, Jodi never lived up to his fathers name and neither player will ever be thought of when we look at Manchester United legends.

I was disappointed before the World Cup to read that Josip Juranovic had turned down an improved contract from the club and would potentially be looking to move on in January. After yesterdays man of the match display against Brazil, he will be in the mind of every top tier manager in need of a right back. While we would miss his quality, already Ange Postecoglou has a succession in place with the early January purchase of Canadian international Alistair Johnston.

Any talk of transfers for the Croatian international must now be in the £20+ million bracket and while I would be sad to see the player leave just think what Ange could do with those levels of funds.

We are already streets ahead of all Scottish teams in terms of squad quality. We are scouring the globe to continue to buy the best players within our budget to improve. With the sale of Juranovic, we could be set to build not just a title winning team but a devastating force in European football. While other teams look to offload their talents in January, one players departure could set us on the road to another dynasty.

How well do you know the King of Pundits – Chris Sutton
