Three time Serbian champion could fit Celtic’s bill

Let’s face it, we are all waiting on Celtic to spend the Champions League money to strengthen the team aren’t we?

Of course we are. That’s why we love the transfer window. There’s something sexy about spending millions on players.

But what  I also enjoy is the low risk, low spend transfers.

You know those ones. They don’t cost a penny and make an impact on the team.

Admittedly Celtic don’t do that very often with the most recent example being Kolo Toure during the Brendan Rodgers era and before that Mikael Lustig and Daniel Majstorović before him.

The point is, it can be done.

And here is one that I think could be added to that very short list.

Well here is another defender, available for free and has a pedigree for being a winner. And I think he could be a decent back up option for Celtic without costing a penny.

Milan Gajic is a three time Serbian champion with Red Star Belgrade. He has also won the Serbian Cup twice, more notably last season and has been capped by his country once.

He can play both full back positions but is more natural on the right. He made his national team debut for Serbia last season and at just 26 years old, still has plenty of football left in him.

He has just been released by Red Star and there are rumours that he is set to sign for CSKA Moscow [Mondo] when it was first thought he would move to Turkey.

Clearly still in demand, this could be a player that would offer good cover in the backline if injury ever hit next season.
