Ok, bare with me here, because this latest injury update from Tottenham Hotspur has thrown up a curveball that could be excellent news for Celtic and their pursuit of Cameron Carter-Vickers.

A little over ten days ago, Vital Celtic reported that the London club were looking to offload fringe players to help raise funds for Antonio Conte to bring fresh blood in for the summer, it seemed that with that news, Cameron Carter Vickers would almost definitely be leaving the club in the summer.

One player touted for a move was Japhet Tanganga.

The big defender has been rocked by an injury blow that sees him ruled out for the rest of the season which has, perversely, revealed that he will not be sold in the summer as the club see him as a part of their future.

Speaking to Football Insider, Spurs expert John Wenham revealed, “The news is devastating for him but Tanganga is still under contract until 2025.

“He counts as homegrown and club affiliated. For me, there’s definitely zero chance of Tottenham moving him on.

“He is valuable. He can come in at centre-half as part of a three or at right wing-back.

“There are a lot of players who you would look to get rid of ahead of him.

“He’s on relatively low wages too. He has also made 19 appearances this season which is 18 more than Joe Rodon.

“If you are talking about players who can be moved on, that’s all you need to say.

“It’s a shame he’s injured but we have plenty of cover at the moment.

“If there was any time for him to get injured, it would be now because we actually have a bit of depth.”

And it was this quote that was striking for me, “There are a lot of players who you would look to get rid of ahead of him.”

A surefire hint that Carter-Vickers is likely on the road out of the EPL club and with rumours that he is keen to make the move to Celtic Park happen in the summer going strong, the Hoops fans will be hoping to see the American defender sign on permanently at Paradise this summer.
