Well this is not surprising at all is it?

From the guy that should have saw red after a shocking ankle stamp on Callum McGregor in the first game of the season against Hearts, Andy Halliday says the red card dished out for the tackle on Tom Rogic should never have been issued.

And his reason? It wasn’t endangering an opponent. Unless he said it was endangering an opponent but there was no malice.

I really couldn’t understand what the hell he was on about to be honest.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, the Hearts man said, “No, it’s never a red card. Never.

“First things first, I hope Tom Rogic is okay. He’s obviously came off the injury off the back of the tackle, but not for me.

“He wins the ball. Goes in hard.

“I mean, I’ve said on numerous times the excessive force doesn’t really sit well with me in terms of the law.

“I think every tackle in football is excessive force.

“You mentioned the tackle for myself at the weekend and I know we’re talking about different incidents, but it was Obileye who came over the top the ball to shield himself.

“His studs come down on my knee, obviously requires stitches but for me, I don’t think that’s a red card.

“He’s made an intent to try and shield himself from the ball and sort of body block. But he’s endangered an opponent, but there’s no malice there to endanger the opponent.

“You can you can endanger or injure an opponent in any any specific tackle. And for me, that’s certainly not a red card.

“But what I will say is regarding the red card, it didn’t affect the game.

“Celtic had the game won before the red card was given.”

Can any of you decipher that cluster of word salad? Because I am lost.

Tbh, my head is spinning after attempting to read that.
“shielding himself from the ball”….wtf does that even mean? Was the ball going to attack him with excessive force?
F*** off Halliday, and go and see if you can get a game for your local pub team…you won’t be getting into their quiz team, that’s for sure.

Andy Halliday showing the quality of a non-denominational education there. Clearly got A’s for his English highers…

The thing is for me, sure, it’s a bad tackle but it looks worse than it is. He’s leaning back to get the ball and his trailing leg comes forward at a different angle toward Rogic, who see it coming and stops in his tracks to brace for impact. It’s a yellow card tackle, the only reason it’s a straight red is because the MIB knew he obviously didn’t do his job properly after the lad’s earlier hatchet job that should’ve had a yellow. I thought that was a worse tackle in terms of intent to harm, as you could see he was trying to “let them know they’re in a game” (*yawn Malky, real modern coaching there ya racist twat). If he’d been booked for that he likely wouldn’t have been so rash in the Rogic incident.
But then, if you’re a referee in Scotland…..why let silly little things like correctly applying the laws of the game spoil a “Butcher the Tims” party???

They have been told if in the box and somebody sneezes go down.
Rogic,is a skilful player, some of the tackles on him have been Horrendous
.the referees in Scotland(I know,I know) should be protecting him.
Maxwell and the rest of his Colleagues in their bunker in Hampden, should be watching this and clamping down on it.
