I have spoken on many occasions on this blog about Cameron Carter-Vickers and his career as a footballing journeyman.

The big American international had been a product of the Spurs youth academy and whilst he showed plenty of promise, he never really got an opportunity to shine at the Londond club.

Prior to Celtic, CCV has been on loan at SIX different English league sides which included Sheffield United, Stoke and Bournemouth.

It wasn’t until he landed at Celtic in the summer of 2021, that he truly found a home.

Former USA striker Eric Wynalda offered his opinion on the 25 year old and intimated that Spurs had messed up by not investing in the central defender.

Speaking on the Wonder Goal podcast via Football Scotland, Wynalda said, “At 25-years-old the question really is where would be the next step for his career.

“Celtic is a massive club and for a guy who has finally found a home after multiple loan stints, it might be very hard for him leave at this point.

“He is truly loved at Celtic and the mainstay of the defensive line.

“If he leaves, there will be tears.

“The supporters will not want to lose him but will have to understand.

“Cameron will need to make sure he is not put into another situation like Spurs, however. The club never committed to him.

“He needs a club that wants him as much as Celtic but would be the appropriate step up in level to impress the new US manager. Tough situation.”

Carter-Vickers has been a sensation since joining Celtic. A successful stint on loan where he helped us wrestle the title back from Govan and win a league cup convinced Ange Postecoglou to shell out £6m to make his move permanent.

I believe that there is no danger of Carter-Vickers leaving the club anytime soon.

After spending six years of his footballing career looking for a home, he has that now in Glasgow.

Alongside winning silverware, Champions League football and 60,000 loving him every second week, he has no reason to be looking elsewhere.

Call yourself a true Celtic fan? How well do you know the European Cup winning season?
