Champions Celtic overcame Kilmarnock’s attempts to recover a draw with a 3-1 victory at Celtic Park.
Stuart Armstrong’s low 25-yard drive earned them the lead midway through the opening half but Jordan Jones equalised following the break.
However, Scott Sinclair tapped in when Armstrong’s free-kick was initially headed back by Dedryk Boyata and then returned by Patrick Roberts.
Substitute James Forrest soon headed another after substitute Moussa Dembele’s effort deflected onto an upright.
