The talk about the silent protest on social media amongst the fans is whether or not the silent protest affects the performance of the team.

Celtic Park has long been lauded for it’s atmosphere, not only in domestic football, but it is revered on the European stage as well.

A raft of top stars have commented at how the Parkhead crowd and the noise they make is the best they have ever heard.

And when the fans are in full swing, there is no atmosphere like it.

But as concern grows as to whether or not the current protest is affecting the teams performances, the last two results would certainly not allude to that.

A 3-2 win against Real Betis and a 1-0 victory over Motherwell would tell you that if there is an affect, it is pretty minimal.

But what do the players actually think about it?

Josip Juranovic was on media duty [Football Scotland]  after Celtic’s win yesterday and he gave a very interesting insight as to how the players feel about it, “We noticed it.

“When we came in afterwards we were speaking about it and how we never really heard them singing.

“We were joking we should join the protest and sit on the pitch and drink coffee!

“When they cheer we play better so hopefully it will come back soon.

“Our main focus in on the game on Wednesday and then we will prepare for the Final.”

So it would seem that although it has been noticed, the effect on the team is minimal, if at all.

You need to remember, these guys are professionals. They have a job to do and they are doing it well.

They will not let the fact that a section of fans not singing affect what they do on the park.

Those fans that are directing their anger at the North Curve, should be looking a little bit more East. That’s were their anger should be directed.

Whilst I agree we should look further east your summation is a tad disingenuous as he also states “When they cheer we play better so hopefully it will come back soon.”
Personally if you’re looking for publicity – don’t sing, if your looking for change – don’t buy. Money is their only god.

Green Brigade acting like spoiled brats again and will likely cause The team they profess to support a place in next year’s Champions league, grow up. Protest at front door or Directors Car Park instead. Time to stop relying on these guys to make a noise

      Hi Stewie,

It’s not solely the Green Brigade that is orchestrating the silent protests. I suggest you do a little bit of digging before casting the wrong assumptions. HH

Firstly i don’t want Higgins at our club and after reading this today about it not effecting our players that’s fine. But i believe it helps the opposition players be less nervous and settle into there stride quicker it certainly looked that way in the two league games only my opinion and i may be wrong but so could you guys.
    Hail Hail

Of course the green brigade are correct to protest against Higgins who is anti Celtic , I have been going to Celtic park since the very early 19601so I am not a green brigade member but I support them as strongly as I support Celtic , if the whole stadium were united we would be stronger, hail hail
