Two-goal hero Gary Hooper says that it is the mental strength of his Celtic side that has given them a clear edge in the race for the SPL title.
“Maybe we are just more confident. Not much has changed so maybe we just believe in ourselves more now” – Gary Hooper
The 23-year-old netted a first-half double and recent signing Kris Commons added a third as the Hoops dominated their Glasgow rivals Rangers in a 3-0 victory, and moved themselves eight points clear at the top of the table.
“We showed with this performance that our mental strength is really good, we are performing well and everybody is comfortable on the ball,” Hooper told BBC Scotland. “Maybe we are just more confident. Not much has changed so maybe we just believe in ourselves more now. We are performing well and we have shown that for the last few months.”
But the 15-goal former Scunthorpe United marksman was still refusing to look to far ahead despite successive league wins over Rangers and without conceding a goal.
“I’m not focused on the trophy,” he continued. “The main thing was to win the game and to carry on winning games and see what happens. There is confidence everywhere. We are not thinking about the championship, we are just focusing on the three points.”
