Celtic’s trips into the transfer market  this season have been very successful. There is no question about it.

With Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda alongside Matt O’Riley taking the Scottish game by storm, it Reo Hatate who is grabbing the main headlines at the moment.

The Japanese midfielder has been in sensational form with three goals in five appearances, Hatate has been playing like he has been at Celtic for years and the fans are loving him.

But BBC pundit Noel Whelan, whilst praising the midfielders performances, has warned that with Hatate’s headline grabbing performances comes the usual interest from the English Premier League.

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan said, “It might not be the top four in the Premier League but it might be people who get promoted from the Championship to the Premier League.

“Right now he’s under contract, right now he’s got to show that consistency that he’s already done.

“Postecoglou has put his trust in Hatate by bringing him to the Scottish Premiership where it’s not easy to play.

“He’s showing what a brilliant signing, what a snip of a signing he’s been and what’s to come.

“I think everybody at Celtic, including the fans, are all excited by what they’ve seen so far.”

And I suppose that’s how it rolls.

With the huge exposure players get by playing for Celtic, huge performances will always hit the headlines and grab the attention of the leagues south of the border but I think it will be some time yet before Celtic are faced with the burden of dealing with enquiries for Hatate.
