Celtic and our fans have always had an issue with how our games are policed at Celtic Park.

How often do we see the local constabulary creeping about the Green Brigade section filming fans who are there just to enjoy the game?

It’s assuming guilt before any crime has even been committed and it is a shameful way to treat the fans.

Popular Twitter account FAC has called this out countless times as has Celtic fan group, The North Curve and next to call out the policing of fans was the A Celtic State of Mind crew on the Monday bulletin.

Discussing the match, Colin asked Natasha how she found the policing at Tannadice and what she had to say, and Colin afterwards, was really interesting:

Natasha: “We went in pretty early to manage to avoid it, but by all reports, it wasn’t great.

“And I’ll send over the pictures to the group chat and maybe post stuff on Twitter about the policing inside the stadium, which was just ridiculous.

“It was just so over the top. You can hardly see the game for the rows of police.”

Paul John: “What do they expecting? What are they expecting the Celtic fans to do? Riot?”

Colin: Every time we go, they’re always the same. It’s always the same.

“I remember going to a game last season and as you’re coming down and towards the stadium and you’re kettled in and you’ve got a go and fit between the way that they’ve lined up the horses.

“The horses are facing each other and you’ve got to go in the middle of the two of them and it’s absolutely shocking.

“The amount of times we take a support there you think that they know how to properly handle it.

“I’ve seen people crawling under police cars, under other things just to avoid being crushed.

“It’s always the same when we go to Tannadice. I’m not surprised that there was more trouble yesterday.”

Paul John: “It’s poor. It really is poor because as I was saying, what exactly are they expecting from the Celtic support?

“I understand the need for there to be a police presence. I also know that leading up to that fateful evening when Neil Lennon and Ally McCoist had handbags at dawn, there had been a lot of talk about non-policed football games in Scotland.

“I mean it’s something that’s successful elsewhere but obviously that has never really come to fruition, especially with the Category A games.

“It’s unfortunate as there is a way to police a football game. And you’ve got to show the crowds of people the respect they deserve as paying customers.”
