With the return to league action after the winter, we witnessed the return of Jota in a Celtic shirt.

Out of action for over a month with a hamstring problem, the Portuguese winger was a sight for sore eyes for the Hoops fans as they saw that magnificent barnet (although I do think he has had a trim!)  take to the Paradise soil once more.

But as the fans sang out “Celtic, Celtic get him signed” when he took to the park, journalist Allison McConnell has issued a warning to the Celtic fabs that it may not be as straight forward getting the 22 year old to commit to a longer term deal.

Speaking on The PLZ Football Show, McConnell said, “This is only a consideration I think Carter Vickers might be easier to do than Jota.

“My own personal feeling, and I’d stress it is nothing more than a feeling, is that Jota might want to sit tight until the end of the season.

“I think if he’s played particularly well in a loan deal, I think he might want to just sit and assess what other options there are come the end of the campaign.

“And there may even be an option to go back to Benfica.

“So I think that there’ll be a willingness on Celtics part to try and get it done.

“Whether or not the player is as eager to formalise something is maybe another matter.”

With the fans hopeful that a £6m deal will be struck sooner rather than later, this is news that they will not want to hear after a very successful January window.
