Despite returning to Celtic first-team training this week, it appears that defender Dedryck Boyata could end up leaving before the end of August regardless.

It’s be a rocky relationship between the club and the Belgian over the past couple of weeks after the Hoops rejected a bid from Fulham for his services.

He ultimately downed tools, but has since found reconciliation with Brendan Rodgers and his teammates, no longer having to train with the U20s development side.

However, Sevilla are showing major interest and have confirmed they are an admirer of the 27-year-old.

As quoted by The Daily Mail, their sports director Joaquin Caparros said:

Boyata is one of those players that we have been following for a while. Defence is an area we need to reinforce. We must proceed calmly because there are many factors with a transfer that doesn’t just depend on ourselves.

The squad is balanced and impressive, but maybe there is something missing and we will try to address that.

If they follow through with that interest, it seems a guarantee that Boyata will be leaving Glasgow. The club know that this is the last chance to receive a significant fee for him and they can’t risk the defender and his agent throwing their toys out of the pram again.

Ultimately it may all rest on Celtic’s ability to bring in a quality enough replacement.

Every fan is hoping that happens in the final week of the transfer window.
