This is a shame. Because not only was Scott Robertson one of the most highly rated players of his era in the youth academy, he was well thought of and impressed when he was on his loan stint at Crewe Alexandra last season.

The young midfielder was once tipped to make it at Celtic but after an injury cut short his loan at the English League One club, he returned to Paradise to complete his rehab.

So onwards and upwards right?

Possibly not according to Celtic expert, Kieran Devlin.

Writing in The Athletic, Devlin predicts, “Robertson was the most highly rated academy product of his age group, and has impressed over the past two seasons during loan spells at Crewe, Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers.

“However, he has not been involved in pre-season and has only a year left on his contract, and as with Shaw, it is not believed Postecoglou intends to include him in his plans.

“A departure this summer, whether on another loan until his contract expires or permanently, is likely.”

I tipped that young Robertson could be one that needed to use this pre season to help save his Celtic career back in June and it seems that, unfortunately, I could be proven correct.

I hope I am wrong but it does look like that time may be up for the young man.
