A really tempting transfer but one Celtic must avoid at all costs

|

Celtic have been linked with plenty of players this window and I suppose that was always going to be the case going into the market.

Many were aware that we needed new players and, thankfully, the club has been too with the way they have acted so far.

We do need more to come in before Deadline Day, though, and so the Bhoys need to be working hard to ensure that that happens.

Who gets linked, then, remains to be seen but it seems as though Yaya Toure is potentially interested in joining the club.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football programme, he was asked if he would consider it given brother Kolo’s role at the club.

This was his response:

“Maybe.

“Let me speak with Kolo and I’ll speak with Brendan Rodgers and maybe we will see.

“Maybe I could end up in England or in Scotland. I want to end up playing at the highest level.”

Certainly, it’s a very tempting situation but it’s one we should avoid I feel.

He has great experience but can he play in an energetic Rodgers midfield? Is he going to accept the wages we’d be able to offer? Would he really stay that long and haven’t we got young players we should be promoting?

Perhaps it’d be fun for a bit, but I think we should avoid going for him.
