I have to say, if Ange Postecoglou’s appointment created any doubts in your head about what type of manager Celtic are getting, then surely that first press conference must have given you much more confidence that the new Hoops gaffer means business.

Confident. Assured and a clear passion for the club and it’s history certainly came across to me and his response to a reporter that felt the need to claim he had “made a jump” up in levels and insinuating that Postecoglou had somehow not managed at the highest level was swatted away expertly and respectfully with no contempt even though the question deserved it.

Speaking at his first live press conference, Ange was in superb form and when faced with that question he stood his ground and put the reporter straight, “Yeah, I’m not sure what you mean by “jump” but I’m assuming you’re saying I worked at a lower level or some lesser level.

“Yeah, that’s, I guess that’s a matter of opinion. I’ve coached at a World Cup I’ve coached against some of the best teams in the world so that’s not how I look at it.

This is just another opportunity. An exciting challenge, an opportunity to work  where I know people are so passionate about the game.

“All those factors are what’s attractive to me. I know the history and traditions of this football club and I know how passionate the supporters are.

“Everyone tells me the experience here at Celtic Park is like no other. That’s why I’m here.”

It is abundantly clear that Postecoglou is a no nonsense figure and will not take stupid questions lightly and if you were not impressed by the big Aussie today, then you must be a hard person to please.
