Antonio Conte really is a man not to mince his words isn’t he.

Over the course, and since, the January window he seems to have done nothing but moan about the lack of investment in his first team squad.

Just the other day, Vital Celtic reported on how the Spurs gaffer may have sent a lifeline to Celtic in their pursuit of Cameron Carter-Vickers but it seems that today, he could be about to rethink that.

Speaking on Sky Sports Italia [via Glasgow Times], Conte was bemoaning the club selling their top stars in the January window, “I saw some situations from the outside that could be developed, but when you get into it, you realise something…

“What happened in January was not easy. We lost four players in January. Four important players for Tottenham, and we brought in only two.

“So even just in terms of numbers, rather than reinforce the squad, we on paper may have weakened it.”

With Spurs squad weakened and the vital experience Carter-Vickers is getting at Celtic picking up trophies and on the European stage, could this force the Italian into a rethink of the American defender’s future?

Conte did say about players going out on loan,”“Usually you buy players to reinforce your team.

“But if you send on loan after two or three years it is strange.

“It means that maybe in the past you have to see what you did and maybe to understand that there were some mistakes.”

Maybe now he could realise that Carter-Vickers could fit this new buy-to-sell model of the London club which could scupper the chances of Celtic signing him permanently in the summer.

This will be interesting to see how this story pans out.
