I’m sure this long-running transfer saga will be over real soon.
Any day now.
The big Greek striker was tipped to leave on transfer deadline day and although the window has now slammed shut (it always slams doesn’t it?) it doesn’t mean that a potential move for Giakoumakis is off.
If the rumours that he is either going to join Atlanta United or Urawa Reds is true, then those clubs respective windows are still open and a deal can still be struck.
As it stands at the moment, no one has any idea where he will end up except the player and his agent but VVV Venlo’s former General Manager, Marco Booger, has dropped a massive update on where he will not be going.
As reported by the Daily Record via MSN, Boogers said, “Giorgos is quiet a thinker. He is very careful in making a choice.
“Given his age, I expect that the financial aspect will play an important role.
“If he went to Urawa Red Diamonds, he would become a teammate of our former player, Bryan Linssen.
“I have been in contact with Bryan, who told me that Giorgos was seriously considered there, but apparently, he has now made a different choice, although I say that carefully, because as far as I know, nothing is final yet.”
Very interesting comments from Boogers that effectively rules out a move to Japan.
So is it the MLS he will head to? It may well be as the transfer window has now closed across Europe.
Unless he completes a loan move with option to buy?
I’m sure we will find out at some point over the next few days.
As much as I like Giorgos, if a player does not want to be with us then, ” it is off with them !! Bye.
