As the Celtic revival continues and Ange Postecoglou tries to bring in his own men, the big question this season has become “Who will be the next Celtic captain?”.

It has long been assumed that Callum McGregor would take over the mantle from the legendary Scott Brown, but speaking on the A Celtic State of Mind podcast, Kevin Graham suggested that with the speculation linking Celtic to former Invincible, Erik Sviatchenko, Graham thinks there is more to the deal than meets the eye, “I was interested in mentioning the captain now. I think if he (Sviatchenko) came back and permanently, he is a candidate to become the captain of the club.

“I think it’s a lazy link. He’s been the captain of this Danish side for the last two years. So are we trying to bring in a ready made captain there?

It is a good argument and one the guys on the podcast did speak about when they suggested that if Erik wasn’t good enough to be captain the first time around, what makes him good enough now?

Maybe the fact that Erik is a bit older and wiser? Or that he captained the side when challenging for the Danish title?

But, at the end of the day, this is just all hearsay. Well, until Ange spoke about Erik in his press conference so maybe there could be legs in this after all?
