Celtic may not be in action for a few days yet, but one of our boys put in an incredible performance this week whilst away on international duty. Scotland took on Israel on Tuesday evening, and it was a fixture that many Scots won’t forget in a hurry.
They managed to win the game 3-2, thanks in large part to a hattrick from James Forrest.
It was a simply sensational performance from Forrest, and it was one that will live long in the memory. We’re hoping that he’ll continue that form when he’s back in green and white, and if he comes back to Celtic Park better than he was when he left for international duty, we’ll have a remarkable player on our hands. Of course, he’s already bagged 6 league goals for us, and many more are likely to come.
However, despite the win and despite the heroics from James Forrest, it seems as though Alex McLeish, Scotland’s manager, has yet to win many of the Celtic Park faithful over – despite Chris Sutton’s suggestion that he may have.
Never straightforward but Alex Mcleish may have just won a few fans over tonight… well done to him and Scotland and very very very well done James Forrest

His decisions haven’t gone down too well in the past, and particularly his attitude towards many of our best players has been questionable. Lots of Celtic fans, then, think that he was simply bailed out on Tuesday, and they still aren’t convinced that he’s the best man for the job.
Take a look at what they’ve had to say below…
McLeish has won nobody over Chris, Forrest bailed him out tonight.

Was lights out if Forrest never scored 5 goals in the last 2 Games

Just remember that McLeish picked Steven O’Donnell, Johnny Russell and Kevin McDonald ahead of James Forrest …… 4 days after he scored 4 against St Johnstone

Won them over by being forced to play Forrest Christie etc…..

Not really. He was bailed out by a few players he deemed not good enough, and in James Forrest case he was 3rd or 4th choice. That tells me McLeish could spot a player if his life depended on it

Won no one over. He’s still as clueless as before Forrest (who he doesn’t like picking in 1st place) rattled 5 in in 2 games. It’s glossed over his many many deficiencies as a manager.

Genuinely think this had very little to do with McLeish. Half the team would not have played the last 2 games if we didn’t have so many players pull out. The players deserve all the credit
