We all know how good James Forrest is, but it appears as though everyone else is only just realising. Despite the fact that he’s been tearing it up for Celtic this season and in the years prior, it’s a display for his country that has got the attention of reporters and fans alike.

He picked up a hattrick for Scotland against Israel on Tuesday night, sealing a 3-2 win for his country in the process. It was a truly formidable display from the forward, but it was one that we’ve come to expect from a player that is undoubtedly one of our best.

A recent comment on Forrest from TalkSport reporter Ian Abrahams, though, has livened up a bit of debate about him online. Taking to Twitter, Abrahams suggested that some lower-level clubs in the Premier League could ‘take a punt’ on the deadly attacker.

Naturally, the suggestion here is that Celtic, and Forrest, are only on a par with the lower-level clubs in the Premier League. Obviously, lots of Hoops fans have been quick to jump to the defence of their man, and it’s fair to say that the claim from Abrahams – which is questionable at best – has not gone down well.

Take a look at what fans have had to say below…
