We all read how Barry Ferguson claimed that Giovani van Bronckhorst had Ange ‘sussed’.

In fact, it was a ridiculous statement ahead of a Glasgow Derby that the Rangers manager has never tasted victory in the league.

Over the course of the last few days, Ferguson has had to wipe egg from his face after the 4-0 humiliation inflicted on his former side on Saturday, but incredibly instead of backing down from his original statement, he doubled down.

And those comments drew the ire from Greek City Times‘ writer, Alexandros Marchetos, as he took aim at the former Scotland midfielder in his latest column.

Marchetos summed up Ferguson’s comments with this simple paragraph, “For those of us who didn’t have a side in the Scottish game until the arrival of Ange, we are finding it beyond ridiculous some of the pelters and claims being made.

“We only want a good and honest assessment of squads and matches.

“This is something very evidently lacking in the Scottish game, but at least it provides entertainment value…

“Barry, mate, just gracefully accept that Ange is a top-notch manager, who at this stage of his career would be at one of the big clubs in a Top 5 league if it were not for him having to climb his way out of the backwater that is Australian football and become a pioneer for Australian football managers.”

And that just sums up the intrinsic nature of the Scottish media and press.

Who are they to run down managers from the so-called ‘smaller leagues’ when, in reality, our domestic league is just as weak (or weaker) as the Japanese league?

Ange is a first-class manager, with a brilliant footballing philosophy that leaves many of our coaches scratching their heads.

The sooner the likes of Ferguson and his media cohorts realise this, the better.

Unfortunately in Scotland the one thing stopping them being honest,is it’s Celticleading the way and all the shit about rangers not turning up was because of the positive attitude and belief that the players and fans have in big Ange.Dont expect any change soon I’ve waited for 72years for change, thats what makes days like Saturday all the better.Try as they may they will never keep us down
