Celtic Word On The Tweet

“Bottled it already” – Celtic fans lap up insipid Rangers display as they fail to take advantage again

|

Rangers had the chance to apply serious pressure on Celtic for the first time in years this week with the opportunity to go 11 points clear at the top of the league with the Parkhead side enduring Covid-19 enforced postponements due to the actions of Boli Bolingoli.

With three points ensuring that they would go top of the league on their own, Steven Gerrard and his men failed once again to take advantage and could only manage a 0-0 draw with Livingston, immediately cancelling out Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock in week two.

It served as a stark reminder to Rangers fans that league titles are won through consistency and the ability to perform when the pressure is on, something Neil Lennon and his side demonstrated to perfection after the winter break last season.

Will Celtic make up the points gap before the end of September?

Hoops fans took to Twitter in response to the result, whilst in the middle of their own disappointment at not getting to see their side in action, at least they were able to be given a good laugh at Rangers expense.

Celtic could still have as many as nine points to claw back when they next kick a ball against Dundee United at the weekend, but if the Ibrox side’s display against Livi is anything to go by, it shouldn’t take too long.
